"Starwish ★ Miracle" - A Magical Girl One-Shot (Signups)

Life in the small and sleepy town of Sidereal Bay is peaceful, quiet... and sometimes a little boring. Despite boasting a healthy tourist trade and gorgeous seafront view, the most exciting thing most people growing up here have to look forward to is the yearly Starshine Festival, where those who climb to the very top of the lighthouse at midnight are said to have their wishes granted.

On the night of the festival, a small group of high school friends make their way to the top of the lighthouse and instead of their wishes find themselves each granted a Wish Dial and recruited to fight back against the evil Calamity Kingdom. The newly formed team of Miracle Warriors must now protect the citizens of Sidereal Bay, re-assemble the shattered Miracle Clock... oh yeah, and save the world while they're at it!

Starwish ★ Miracle is a tabletop one shot run in Glitter Hearts with the potential to be expanded into a full campaign later down the line. The session will start in medias res with the Miracle Warriors having already spent some time fighting and learning their magic, though an informal session zero will be held to allow players to brainstorm and establish any potential relationship hooks or character building before the main session.

There are 3 to 5 slots available and the session is set to be held on any of the following dates: January 26th, 27th and 28th. This is a signup post to gauge both player interest and potential turnout and what day will be best for everyone's availability. Please fill in the form below if you can commit to attending – while I may not be able to accommodate everyone, please be sure you can fully commit to attending to at least one of the available days!

The deadline for signups is January 20th. On that day, I will decide on the final player lineup and we'll start prepping for game!

Character Pitch: I have the game at home but I'm at work so I can alter this for game mechanics when I get there BUT. Miracle Silvermoon, a healer build based on Cancer and the moon (in fitting the zodiac theme of the setting) since it fits too well, who is overflowing with emotion but tries to hide her own worries by throwing herself into helping other people. I'm thinking Counsellor/Idol/water build with healing magic and Full Support, if that works for everyone.

The only problem is that she'd be a grey magical girl using the traditional colours for the signs, but hey, it worked for Cure Moonlight.

Availability: might be busy the night of the 28th but otherwise free! Since we're out of session, I'm basically making my own schedule here.

Character Pitch:
Theodore Archimedes Baldwin, everyone calls him Thorn (because on day one of school he panicked and tried to come up with a cool-sounding nickname). The quiet, gothy loner may or may not actually be either of those types, but the Goth identity does look cool who keeps out of the way and in the shadows, snapping photos on a vintage film camera. Maintains an edgy facade, drinks out of a hip flask (of water), he’s not like other kids, he reads books instead of watching TV or Netflix (his parents can’t afford or don’t want cable), hangs out in graveyards (look there’s actually a lot of cool potential pictures there and the people most likely to beat him up don’t go there), uses verbose insults (he doesn’t like swearing). Hoodies everywhere.

He is desperately lonely and just kind of hangs at the edge of any group that seems to tolerate him (does not actively harass or attack him). Do not perceive him (please, please dear god).

So of course he (secretly) wishes for friendship and acceptance and gets turned into a magical boy.

I’m very open to different builds here since I’ve never used this system before, but I kind of love the idea of this zero-self-confidence loser getting forced into the role of an Idol or an “I’m Your Opponent” type Warrior. BUT if something more mechanically sane would be better, a support-based Tactician or Witch would be fun, and I could probably make Defender work for this.

But a mystic connection to Hope seems non-negotiable. Unless a full read of the rulebook makes me like something better.

…Also I’m thinking the name “Miracle Twilight” but again, if we go with a zodiac theme I’m open for anything.

Character Pitch: I'm going to be maximum fite, this is just my life, I am accepting it. So like, mechanically, I'm thinking The Warrior archetype.

The character in question's gonna be a nonbinary... idk I'll confirm pronouns later, but they pronouns are a sure thing. Gender: yes. Anyway. Prrrobably Aloof type, maybe a... very weird Team Player. They're a bit withdrawn, but not in an antisocial way, just a little harder to approach, but cares like... so much. Full "I don't care, I say caringly, caring so much". Keeps helping out random clubs despite not being outwardly very social, just because they can't help but get involved when people need help, but they're still kind of quiet most of the time.

Which does an immediate turn when they transform and are much more... I can't explain it any way but gallant. Full dashing knight, their desire to help now manifesting in full chivalry and some cockiness. also like. real eager to throw themself into danger. please calm down.

Name... thinking Miracle Rose, or Miracle Argent. It needs to be something DASHING, idk. We're going full utena up in this bitch.

Character Pitch: (normal glasses, what's behind the glasses)Shoshana Rose's everyday persona is the Savant...whose specialty is conspiracy theories. She's obsessed with aliens, magic, faeries, weird anomalies--you name it, she is absolutely sure They're Out There. Let's not even go into her collection of tinfoil hats, website printouts and newspaper clippings, and the fact that she probably forgets to eat and/or bathe half the time. As head of the UFO club at her high school, she's just really, really into her investigating work, and she'll go out on all sorts of limbs and put herself at risk to Find the Truth. That night at the festival, her wish to experience something extraordinary came true when she learned of magic and the hidden fight against the Calamity Kingdom.

Miracle Mystery (name up for change if something more Zodiac-ish is needed) - Shoshana transforms into a magical girl who fills in the Tactician archetype, her racing thoughts helping her to be One Step Ahead of whatever villain they come up against, using her smarts and her out-of-the-box thinking to help keep her teammates out of harm's way to the best of her ability. She vibes with the Desire Emotional Connection, but in a desire to know things and attempt to sate her insatiable curiosity. To that end, she gets the Enangling Whip power, which manifests as a red string--just like the ones she uses on her pinboard.

Availability: Insofar all of those dates work for me, though I would prefer the 27th or 28th if possible. Those dates I could start at about 12pm EST and stay up until about 6 or 7pm EST at the latest; the 26th I would def need a hard stop of 6pm EST.

Character Pitch: I don't have the book and I'm kindof scrambling to hand this to u last minute but Miracle Equinox -- named for the longest and shortest days of the year bc this girls extra. She thinks she's the hero and the leader and goes about everything like she is. She's not. While she exudes the energy required of someone in such a role, she's only focused on having some fun-- which leads to wild antics and trouble for anyone around her. She also never apologizes.
